British musician DAVE STEWART has criticised TV talent shows - insisting singers who win a reality series aren't adequately prepared for fame or career longevity.
The Eurythmics star laments the current path to pop stardom, and believes iconic bands such as Pink Floyd would never have existed if the process had been employed in the 1960s, when the group was formed.
He says, "These days, kids go straight from TV shows such as Britain's Got Talent to performing in vast arenas. The TV shows shoot them into the charts and create instant stars.
"But it's all so fast-paced and manufactured that the kids aren't prepared. And if we're relying on talent shows to produce our stars, we won't have music that endures. We won't have bands like Pink Floyd that have lasted for a quarter of a century."
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ lawyer has sent a cease-and-desist threat to the owner of posh baby boutique Petit Tresor for allegedly giving the tabloids bogus info about their spending habits.
In a letter to owner Samantha Winch, dated May 12, the couple’s attorney, Aaron J. Moss, accuses the store’s employees of both violating their clients’ privacy and giving out “simply false” information to Life & Style magazine that Holmes and Cruise spent between $350,000 and $400,000 in their stores “for the purpose of enhancing [the store’s] image and obtaining a commercial advantage.”
However, a Petit Tresor spokesman says they were asked by a reporter for an estimation of how much the Cruises have spent on gear for Suri, but they “never mentioned that this $350-$400K figure included anything purchased at Petit Tresor.”
